Craig Welken
 

Craig has more than 35 years of investigative and managerial experience, including 26 years as a Special Agent and Supervisor with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He joined WayPoint following eight years as a security manager with a Fortune 200 Corporation where he conducted hundreds of inquiries. For three years he led a team of experienced investigators who conducted corporate investigations in portions of 11 Midwestern states.

 

Craig has a corporate investigative background in the areas of internal and external theft, embezzlement, falsification of documents, inventory issues, workplace violence, code of business, conduct violations, and business continuation planning in connection with potential labor disruptions. He has conducted numerous facility physical security assessments, and offered recommendations on employee personal security. Craig directed investigative research projects which resolved serious questions about persons and business entities. He has worked closely with corporate internal control, corporate attorneys and internal audit to successfully conclude a number of investigations

 

During his FBI career he gained extensive experience investigating and supervising white collar crime, violent crime, and high level background investigations, including presidential appointments. His white collar crime experience includes bankruptcy fraud, embezzlement from financial institutions and government programs, false claims, and mail fraud. Violent crimes included murder, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, bank robbery, extortion, sexual assault, and kidnapping. As a Supervisory Special Agent he also participated in internal misconduct investigations and program reviews and audits

 

Craig served as a Special Agent – Attorney in the legal counsel’s office of the FBI’s second largest field office and ultimately was named head of the legal unit. During those seven years he provided legal advice to Agents and management in connection with legal issues arising from investigations as well as claims brought against the FBI

 

Craig was admitted to the bar in Colorado, Iowa, and North Dakota. He is currently an active member of the Colorado bar.
