John Kaul
 

John is a senior investigator with 27 years experience as a Special Agent and Supervisor with the FBI. 


John supervised the counterterrorism, counterintelligence, backgrounds, and civil rights programs in upstate New York for the Albany Office of the FBI. He also supervised all FBI investigations in several satellite offices in eastern upstate New York and Vermont.


John served on the Minneapolis FBI Organized Crime/Drug Squad, conducting and overseeing investigations involving national and international narcotics trafficking, money laundering, gambling, racketeering, murder, and corruption.  He also conducted and supervised investigations of fraud, including advance fee schemes, bank fraud, mail fraud, and bankruptcy fraud. He later oversaw the creation of the Minneapolis FBI Computer Crimes/Crimes Against Children/Applicant Squad. His squad investigated computer intrusions, denial of service attacks, and child pornography, and also conducted background investigations of Presidential appointees, including cabinet members, federal judges, FBI applicants, and security clearances for those with access to nuclear secrets.


John also spent 11 years at FBI Headquarters serving in various legal capacities including supervising the FBI’s response to civil litigation and its Administrative Law Unit which was charged with providing advice and oversight for personnel matters, ethics, government contracting, and budgetary matters. He also served as the FBI’s Legislative Counsel.


Following this retirement from the FBI, John joined several retired associates in forming an investigative and consulting firm whose members have now joined WayPoint. He has conducted hundreds of due diligence investigations as well as investigations of corporate misconduct.


John is admitted to the bars of Minnesota and the U.S. Supreme Court.
